Cardiff boosted by status as destination for stags and hens
- 3rd January 2012
Cardiff’s reputation as a great city for a stag or hen weekend benefits the city and its local businesses, reports suggest.
Whilst the Welsh capital has been criticised in the press for its boozy nightspots, local business owners have said that Cardiff’s reputation as a stag or hen venue is bringing a great deal of business into the capital.
As this continues, it is expected that more activities will be set up in Cardiff to entertain the swelling numbers of husbands or brides-to-be descending on the city, themes.thestar.com reports.
With shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance, as well as a strip of bars all concentrated in one area, the city has seen a rise in revellers descending on the city over the last six years. Many of these are thought to be made up of stag and hen parties from all over the UK.
However, as opposed to alienating local businesses, the influx has boosted them – with many owners keen to encourage more parties to sample the nightlife of the Welsh capital.
Speaking to BBC News, restaurant owner Giovanni Malacrino explained how he was seeing a five per cent rise in profits from stag and hen parties alone.
“We’re getting quality customers coming to Cardiff to party before Christmas,” he said. “I have people coming from London and across the UK. Customers always tell me how much they love Cardiff.
