Night before wedding not ideal for stag nights
- 22nd November 2011
Holding a stag night or party right before a wedding is not a good idea, according to writers Ryan Lambie and Simon Brew.
Taking readers through the top five golden rules of weddings (guided by the many mishaps seen in Hollywood movies), they claimed that if men can learn anything from the world of film, it’s that the stag do should be held well in advance.
“Rule number three,” they said. “It’s best not to hold the stag night too close to the wedding.
“A simple, common sense piece of advice: make sure they’re planned at least two weeks ahead of the wedding,” the writers advised. This is because often, a stag party can leave the man of honour in a somewhat delicate state and they might find themselves in an unknown location, thanks to their best friends.
This is of course a right of passage and something most stags go through, so shouldn’t be sniffed at. However, this isn’t always the most ideal state to be in on the day of their wedding, Lambie and Brew implied. It’s best grooms-to-be give themselves time to recover from the festivities, so they are fully alert for the big day.
Their advice has been echoed by many a wedding planner, including the experts at Iamstaggered.com. They told those organising the do that it should be “close to the wedding but not so close that it impacts on the main event.
“Come up with a few dates between two and five weeks before the big day.”
