Bristol’s history is far more than Worzel Gummage and Aunt Sally (Google them if you are too young). The city developed initially as a port handling trade and travellers from Ireland and in later years North America.
The wealth generated was not wasted, as some chap called Isambard Kingdom Brunel happened to like the place. He spent much of his life creating architectural features of the city which still impress to this day. The most famous of all being Clifton Suspension Bridge.
However, as with much with maritime history you have to take the rough with the smooth and it has a chequered past when it comes to Pirates. Watch out descendants of Long John Silver could still be wandering the streets.
Famous these days for it’s music and film industries with successes such as Nick Parkes creations, Wallace and Grommit the city is going from strength to strength.
